On February 28th, the South Korean Department of Military Affairs, which is in charge of military affairs, announced that male interns who have lost their status as interns due to the strike or resignation caused by this situation and have not completed military service, must serve in the military before March next year.

This is also another pressure measure against the doctor community, following the South Korean government's announcement in March to initiate prosecution and revocation of licenses for interns and resident doctors who have not yet returned to their positions.

According to the military service system in South Korea, if an intern doctor who graduated from a medical university and completed an internship at a designated hospital before the age of 33 becomes an official doctor, they will be considered as a "medical non commissioned officer candidate". In the absence of a major war in South Korea, they only need to participate in 4 weeks of military training and annual regular training. If they resign from their internship doctor status, The hospital director needs to report to the Department of Military Affairs within 14 days and complete the enlistment procedures again in the "most recent period". As a medical student who does not have the status of an intern doctor, medical officers need to serve for 38 months.
